I had no idea this model even existed when I went to purchase our monitor. I went to that big baby store chain, ya know the one with "us" in the name ;) and was going to purchase the original Summer Infant Baby Touch Video Monitor.The lady helping me grabbed this one and it was the same price as the original so we were comparing them to see what the difference was. To the best of my knowledge, this is just the "new" model that has a bigger range of 600ft compared to 400ft with the original. I figured this model may be improved to work out any bugs the original had. It was pure luck that the price was the same, so I went with this one and compared to the price listed here right now, I saved $70.I *almost* LOVE this monitor! Well, it's so close that you could consider it more love then like. We have been using it for a couple months now. She still sleeps in our room at night but I've been having her nap in her crib for awhile now. It gets used a lot during the day.The good- It is reliable, I trust it. Never had any issue with our wireless in the house and with a 3 month old baby, I'm constantly on the wi-fi on my phone. There is NO intereference at all in our home. We have a NetGear Router that is a few years old. There is no delay in the image you are seeing or the sound you are hearing. Our baby's room is right next to ours and I have stood at her door to make sure the monitor was giving me real time feedback! I LOVE the pan and zoom feature. This was the deciding factor for me. I don't use it all the time, but it will sure come in handy when she is older. I LOVE the belt clip/stand on the back of it. The design is excellent. The touch screen works great, and the picture quality is pretty good. The little light that stays on the camera is not bright at all. We have this mounted on the wall pointed towards out daughter's crib and I can see every inch of her room buy using the pan feature. (Well, except inside her closet of course!)The battery life if pretty darn good for doing stuff around the house during the day and you should just leave it on the cradle to charge at night. The zoom is decent.Now, the not-so-good, but not necessarily bad- There is a constant static sound with the volume up on high. Kinda annoying if you ask me. My Husband says when you use the talk feature that you really have to whisper because it's really loud in her room. (I've only ever talked to him, I've never heard him talking so I don't know) Don't expect a picture like what you'd see on a cell phone, this is lightyears behind the quality of that... but it can't possibly be that much different with other monitors if this it the technology they are using. I also can't see or hear my baby breathing with this, so I put my trust in God and give it over to Him! It would just be nice if the picture/sound was a little better so you could. You definately hear them when they start making noise though!My MAIN issue with this monitor is that there isn't an option to have the video on more then 5 minutes when not on a base. I purshased an addition base for the living room, but when I go take a shower I like to stick my head out of the shower to check on her. I have to shower on a different floor then her room. The screen goes black but the volume is still on, but it bothers me to not be able to see her so I have to rush my shower. All I'm saying is there should be an option to leave the video on, like how there is a button to turn it on and off, you should be able to double click it and have it set to on until the battery dies or you shut it off. There is no way the battery would die while taking a shower, it only ever loses maybe 5%-10% of it's charge in that time. I just think for this kind of money, that should be an included feature. When I'm in here on the computer I have to click the video on button every 5 minutes while she's napping, which is what I've been doing as I type this.Well, my time has run out as my little darling is waking up. I do think it's an excellent product, but there's always room for improvement and with the price of everything I don't think it's unreasonable to want more for your money. I'm glad I didn't pay full price, well I wouldn't have, but still... :)I hope this review helps you!
