We bought this play yard for the visit of a 1 year old grand child. We almost sent it back because we could not properly erect it. The problem is to get the side rails to lock into place. Other reviews report the same problem. The instructions (which are minimally illustrated) seem to suggest that you must first open-up the unit until it is almost full size and then snap the rail locks into place. This does NOT work. We called the manufacturer and they could provide no help - they suggested that we return it. In preparing to ship it back, I discovered the secret. The unit must be in a semi-collapsed (and rather floppy) state before attempting to snap the side rails - the four legs cannot be vertical but rather tilted in. Once this secret is learned, it erects easily. The unit is sturdy and serves its purpose well.Some reviewers report a problem in collapsing the yard. Here too there is a secret. In each side rail there are two release buttons. They are difficult to access because they are covered with fabric. But by feeling around, one can locate them; a press on each of them releases the latch.We also purchased the Dream On Me 3" mattress that is advertised with this play yard and carries the implication that it is a specific fit. As others have pointed out, this mattress is not a close fit to the yard - it is smaller by inches. Nonetheless it can be used and does the job.

I bought this play yard for my 6 month old grandson who was coming to visit. It worked out great and he slept really well in it. It is easy to set up and pack away. Says it will hold him until he is 35 lbs, so this should last for quite some time. I would highly suggest buying the extra 3" deep mattress for it, as the pad that comes with it is very thin. Although the 3" mattress doesn't completely fill the bed area, we just rolled some baby blankets and placed around the edges. I would definitely recommend this to someone. In fact my son would like to purchase one as well to have when they travel.
