The new hood has elastic to provide more length due to the shortened straps and will 'cup' around baby's head. One D-ring remains, and this is for your personal use. i especially love this color because it doesn't show dirtiness quickly. the fabric is super soft, and my baby is comfy and secure while i have my hands free. i recommend this to every parent. i got the organic suck pads to go with it. baby loves them, and its more sanitary to have these and wash them periodically as baby's mouth is constantly on straps either way, and its not ideal to launder frequently for color fading/wear.
