These maracas seemed cute and fun at first - until I realized my kids have an unnatural compulsion to beating them together instead of just shaking them. Well, that seems like harmless fun - until they explode, shooting tiny silver balls of various sizes in all directions. Since my kids got many of these from their grandparents, this has happened several times. I cannot say the life expectancy of these toys is very long.
