The KiddyGuard Avant Gate has a new elegant design and is almost invisible when not in use. Sturdy polyester mesh panel easily retracts from an open to closed position into the metal housing on one side. The housing protects it from dirt, wear, and tear. Allows both manual and automatic operation with a unique timed locking mechanism. It locks in place in both the open and closed positions. Easy one hand use. Expands to secure openings up to 51" wide. Height is 32". Use in-between rooms at doorways or at stairs. Meets European and U.S. Safety Standards. Available in Black and White colors.

As my wife noted, this really makes our doorway narrow. It is rather easy and fast to install and seems quite sturdy.It's night one after install, so not much to add about longevity or use.I like the white color and the retractable option, that do seem like they will work well for us off our kitchen.
