This is the first review I write on Amazon EVER... I just had to tell everybody looking into the Beco Gemini that this is the best baby product I've bought so far... I have a almost 20 lbs 6 month son who gets frustrated and starts crying after being in his stroller for more than 20 minutes at a time, so I have to use a carrier to be able to go to the mall, the supermarket, the park, etc. So I've tried many of the carriers in the market:- cheap carriers: i tried the infantino which was uncomfortable for me and baby- baby k'tan: worked great until my son turned 2 months and hated it- slings: baby hated it- Ergo: not as comfortable as I read on other reviews. My baby doesnt really like to face inward all the time- baby bjorn original: I loved this carrier until my son started packing on the pounds... My son loved to be able to look out, and it comfortable for me. At around 15 lbs my back would hurt for hours if I wore him to the supermarket or a quick errand, but since I had no other choice... I just tried to wait as long as my back was able to tolerate the weight. At 19 lbs I just couldnt take it anymore.I was lucky to complain in front of my friend who owns a Gemini... She told me that she took her baby to a renaissance fair and wore the Gemini for 8 hours straight without any issues, or pain. Her son is 12 lbs... So of course she had no pain, I was skeptical but I decided to give it a try anyways.The minute I got it I tried it on at home and we both LOVED it... The weight is evenly distributed and it really felt if I was carrying a newborn! I tried inwards and facing out and they are both equally comfortable. Not only that, my son seems to find it more comfortable than the Ergo, because I was able to carry him facing in without any complaining. Since I bought it, I went to the supermarket 5 times, to the mall, and walked 3 miles without any pain or complaints. Not only that... My husband (who has a bad back, and could not use the baby bjorn for more than 2 minutes at a time) was able to use it for almost an hour!I cannot be any happier with my purchase... Hence my first review on Amazon after being an avid shopper for more than 6 years.

I was blessed with a big baby at birth so he outgrew this quickly whereas friends used this with their kids up to age of two. My back ends up hurting now (since child was 6-8 months) for long uses and he isn't as comfortable as I hoped.

It's true to the description. I have been struggling with a bad back for many years and now that I have my daughter I was worried I may not carry her as much as I should be. A family member had bought me the Bjorne carrier. A few minutes after using it I had the worst back and shoulder pain just with my daughter at 10 lbs. With the Beco, the weight is distributed along the shoulder and hips that I was able to carry my daughter for long periods of time, even an hour at Costco!
