As a first time mom I didn't know what to expect with a newborn baby .... I quickly realized how tiring it is not only having to feed so often but also holding my baby for hours. I didn't want to always lay my baby flat down because right after feeding he would spit up, also I wanted to minimize the time he spent laying flat down on his head to avoid the "flat head syndrome". As a result, I was always holding him unless he was sleeping and my arms and back started killing me. This Podster is a lifesaver. I can lay him down in it and he is slightly elevated so he doesn't spit up after feedings, I can also lay him down in it while playing with him and talking to him and it gives my arms a rest. It's also great when you have to put your baby down for just a minute or so to grab something or do something. It's very soft and cusiony and as far as I can tell, it is also soft on his head so it won't flatten his head (the Boppy newborn lounger, which I also have, is a little harder/stiffer, so I prefer the Podster). I love that it is also adjustable so as my baby grows I can adjust it. The cover is also removable and washable unlike the Boppy newborn lounger. Sometimes I put a soft towel or blanket in the center seat to elevate my baby's bottom if he seems to be sinking too much. To me, this is worth every penny!!
