With several upcoming trips, I worried about what to do with the baby. Hotel cribs are usually just a cheap pack-n-play, and from previous experience I know my son isn't likely to sleep on one of those hard PnP bases. I stumbled upon the Room to Grow playyard, and just HAD to give it a shot.When it arrived the first thing I noticed was it was heavier than I expected. I know the sale page includes the product weight, but numbers mean very little compared with how something actually FEELS. Still, much lighter than a PnP.The air pump included means business. It's a foot pump, but it's big. I inflated both the playyard, and the cushion, in about two minutes, at a leisurely pace. I'll be using the pump this summer to inflate baby pools and rafts!Before I finished inflating the playyard, I was already impressed by the sturdiness of the item. The bottom cushion fits snugly in place. Everything feels firm and safe for an infant.The sheet provided is thick, soft, and well made.This product is intended for children 12 months and under. Understandably, the manufacturer cautions against use with older children. However, my 15-month-old, who has proven to be an accomplished escape artist and climber, was not able to climb out of the Room to Grow playyard. And despite the 30# limit detailed in the instructions, my 40# 6-year-old AND my 20# 1-year-old were able to cozy up inside.In a nutshell, I love this thing.Three complaints:1) it stinks for a couple days. open it up for a while to allow the plastic smell to dissipate.2) the kids got a latex (?) rash after playing in it the first day. see #13) it's big. bigger than a pack-n-play.... but smaller (and lighter) when packed. still, this is not an item for tiny areas.

This play yard isn't quite as small as a pack and play, but it folds up much smaller and is so much easier to carry, especially on plane trips!!!Also it makes a great nap area in addition to a playing area, my daughter is comfortable and cool thanks to the vents in the sides. It also doubles as a changing table flipped over, though it dips quite a bit in the center (I guess this is good so your little one won't roll off, but since my changing pad is connected to the diaper bag, it makes the diaper bag tip over onto my daughter when I tried to change her on it. So now I don't bother, or I just use a different pad.)It sets up very easy and is amazingly sturdy, we only had a little trouble getting the cushion in the first time. Since then it has become much easier. The fitted sheet that comes with it is really nice; soft and sturdy and fits snuggly. The pump is awesome and it only takes a few minutes to inflate it. However, it does take much longer to deflate it and pack it away. (the pump is also great to use with other things like kiddy pools and pool toys/rafts and air mattresses!).My biggest complaint is lack of visibility through the vents in the sides. It's a double layer of plastic mesh so you can't really see through it on eye level unless your face is right up next to you and the light in the room is good. I also think this lack of visibility is what caused my daughter to scream her head off the first few times we put her in it, but eventually she just started standing up in it to look over the edge.It also doubles as a kiddy pool but we haven't tried this feature yet. Overall a great product!

I wish this would have worked- it's a neat idea. However, the cushion would not stay inflated creating a suffocation hazard, so I returned it- the return/credit process was very easy.
